Rather than get into details here, I urge you to check out this announcement post.
It's a massive upgrade, and well worth checking out. -E

    Default Advanced Upgrade to R80.30

I am trying to upgrade a Management Server running (GAIA) R77.30 to R80.30.
I want to do a pre upgrade check and I've successfully intalled the "CPupgrade-tools-R80.30-00-00" package.
I now want to run the command to do the verification. The documentation seems to say that I need to run the following:
    "$MDS_FWDIR/scripts/migrate_server verify -skip_upgrade_tools_check -v R80.30"
However this path "$MD$_FWDIR" doesn't seem to exist on the management server (when I try to cd to it I end up in the /home/admin area).
I've also done a search for the file "migrate_server" but it doesn't seem to exist anywhere on the server either.
Is anyone able to advise what commands I need to run?
    Many thanks

You need to run the pre upgrade verifier tool like this on your R77.30 SMS:

    pre_upgrade_verifier -p $FWDIR -c R77.30 -t R80.30

If you can't find it, download the R80.30 migration utilities from sk144293. You need to correct any errors reported before taking your migrate export, also just note any warnings issued for future reference.

Exactly as Tim said. To expand a bit...

    - The command you found is specific to Multi Domain Server (MDS), a much bigger and more complex beast.
    - If you downloaded the correct package, the pre_upgrade_verifier script should be there.
    - If not, you can find it here.

Let us know how it goes.

    Many thanks for your replies!

Actually I have already installed the R80.30 upgrade tools
I couble checked this and got the following output
    [Expert@CW-BDR6-FWMGMT-01:0]# rpm -i CPupgrade-tools-R80.30-00-00.i386.rpm
    package CPupgrade-tools-R80.30-00-00 is already installed

However when I run the pre upgrade verifier (whilst in the directory /opt/CPsuite-R77/fw1/bin/upgrade_tools) it does not seem to recognise "R80.30" (I get the following output):

    [Expert@CW-BDR6-FWMGMT-01:0]# ./pre_upgrade_verifier $FWDIR -c R77.30 -t R80.30
This is Check Point Pre-Upgrade Verifier for version R77.
    Usage:[output ommitted]
where the Target version is one of the following:
    R70 (aliases: R70_R70, 6.0.1.6)
    R71 (aliases: R71_R71, 6.0.1.7)
    R75 (aliases: R75_R75, 6.0.2.0)
    R75.20 (aliases: R75.20_R75.20, 6.0.2.1)
    R75.40 (aliases: R75.40_R75.40, 6.0.2.5)
    R75.40VS (aliases: R75.40VS_R75.40VS, 6.0.3.0)
    R76 (aliases: R76_R76, 6.0.3.5)
    R77 (aliases: R77_R77, R77.30, R77.30_R77.30, 6.0.4.0)
    [Expert@CW-BDR6-FWMGMT-01:0]#

    Many thanks

I'm not sure what you downloaded, but grab the file from the link I gave (again here). Extract that to a folder and run the pre_upgrade_verifier directly from there.
