Hello there.
We had a 5400 appliance which ran on monitor mode with proper licensing.
That 5400 appliance had to be replaced by a 5600 one.

Instead of doing a migrate_export/migrate_import of the configuration, my colleague did a backup/restore procedure which is wrong since it's a different appliance (5400 to 5600).

My questions are the following:

1. Does the backup/restore eventually overrides Interfaces MAC addresses or not ?

2. Along with Gaia OS configuration and Checkpoint Database, license information was restored as well and it seemed like valid. No warnings and SmartConsole opened up and we did a policy install very normally.
From what I was aware of is that licenses that come with an appliance are only valid on the hardware they were purchased with and are non-transferable.

What the hell just happened ?
