    Default Youtube blocking certain channels?

    Hi Guys,

Is there way since CP does not categorise different youtube channels to block those? I guess AFAIK once the you tube access is given user can either can access complete youtube or no access at all. Can we restrict the users to certain channels?

Pretty sure this is not currently possible.

    Maybe through some complex regex?

    (youtu\.be\/|youtube\.com\/(watch\?(.*&)?v=|(embed|v)\/))dQw4w9WgXcQ

The problem with regex like that is that the videos are hosted on some CDN.

You'd have to have an interesting configuration that blocks the channel URLs (other than the ones you want) but allows all the domains that host the scripts and content.

And even with that, video links are all effectively the same. You would be blocking access to the list of videos which is the "channel", but not the videos themselves. Another video list (say, searching Google directly) could still get users links to them.

But I guess, I heard CISCO does offer similar solution by which Videos can be blocked. I mean I have not experienced by myself but again heard 5520x has that feature.

I would be extremely interested to know how they manage that. I can see how to match individual videos, and how to match indexes of videos (“channels”), but I can’t think of a good way to match the videos which are listed on an index.

I guess it could be done vaguely like how Check Point does Domain objects in R80.10. Have a background process on the firewall which goes out and downloads the index from the “channel”, then builds a sort of dynamic object containing URL matching criteria for the videos. I don’t know any URL matching engine which would perform well when doing that, though.
