I'd like to thank everyone involved for making "The CPUG Challenge" a great success.
We helped a lot of people see and learn a bit more about R80.10, while having some fun.
We will be using this success to try and bring more events to more locations soon. -E

Default DHCPv6 Server configuration on R77.30

    Hi,

using Router Adverisments (RA)s with the other-configuration Flag set should trigger the client to obtain other configuration form a DHCPv6 server. Configuring the security gateway to send such RAs on dedicated interfaces is possible using the R77.30 software release (set ipv6 rdisc6 interface X other-config on).

However, as far as I can tell, it is not possible to configure the DHCPv6 server on the gateway using the 77.30 release.
For R80.10 this is possible (https://sc1.checkpoint.com/documents...minGuide/81020).

Reading the R80 and R80.10 release notes, I was not able to verify if my assumption that configuring DHCPv6 servers on the security gateways was introduced with the R80 release. Maybe someone reading this could help me out.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

It is definitely possible to configure a DHCPv6 relay in R80.10.
I do not believe it's possible to configure DHCPv6 server, however.

    Thanks for the Replay!

Maybe I have to rephrase my question a little bit.
You don't want to configure a DHCPv6 Server on the checkpoint itself, since in (nearly) all enterprises you usually have a centralized service for that. However, what you want to do is to configure an IPv6 DHCPv6 relay for specific subnets for which the security gateway functions as default gateway.

As you've already stated above, this is possible for R80.10. But is it possible for R77.30 as well?

    Thanks in advance!

R80.10 is the first version where this feature is integrated.
It may be available in earlier releases as a customer hotfix, please check with your Check Point SE.
