Default Checkpoint management and Smart Event and Smart Reporter sever on windows OS.

    Hello,
Please help me for license and installation of checkpoint management and Smart Event and Smart Reporter server on Windows OS.

Currently we have below checkpoint appliance with license.

    Security Gateway 12400 – 2Qty
    Smart 1- 5 Management – 1Qty
    Smart 1- 5 Smart Event / Smart Reporter) – 1Qty
    Current Running OS – R77.30

Now we want to make Management and Smart Event / Smart Reporter on open server (Windows) as our appliance have very less memory it’s take lot of time for report fetching and policy installation.

Please help to identify below point –

1- How to make Management and Smart Event / Smart Reporter on single windows server?
2- Is there any license require to make Management and Smart Event / Smart Reporter on windows server or we can use appliance license?
3- Software download for Windows OS to make Management and Smart Event / Smart Reporter

    Thanks,
    Prem

1.) Install a clean R77.30 Windows Installation, perform a migrate export, migrate import of the management database from the SmartCentre Appliance into the Windows Server. Then enable and configure the SmartEvent/Reporter on the Windows Server.
2.) Will need new licenses as Appliance Licenses tied to Appliance.

    Just my 10c.

It is a very bad idea to run CP servers on Windows. They will be extremely slow and hard to maintain and operate with.

The main issue is, CP management and Event analysis/reporting do lots of file jobs, reading and writing. In windows each of those tasks will be interjected by anti-virus solution, slowing them dramatically.

I have never seen a single happy customer running MGMT servers on Windows. One should avoid it at any cost.

Thanks for your suggestion and we are not going to deploy Checkpoint management over Windows server.

Please suggest if we can install Checkpoint management and Smart Event and Smart Reporter on open sever like Dell or IBM hardware with same IP address, which currently have checkpoint management appliance and can use same licenses.

    Thanks,
    Prem

You will have to acquire a new license to run management and SmartEvent on anything else as the Smart-1 5 licenses are tied to that hardware.
And yes, you can run management and SmartEvent on a single Open Server, if that's what you prefer (assuming it's certified).

As phoneboy said, although you can technically use the same license (in case of the same IP address), that would not be legal. You are advised to purchase a new one.
