Default support for R80 on older appliances

    Hi,

Is R80 gateway release supported on older appliances as well. Can the 13000 & 12000 series appliances be upgraded to R80 as well. I know R80 management does support managing these appliances.

    Thanks in advance.

    https://www.checkpoint.com/support-s...-cycle-policy/

This has the versions supported for all appliances. Keep in mind that R80 (specifically) is for Management only, and R80.10 (which is for Management AND Gateways) has not yet been released, so will not be listed in the lifecycle support policy page.

In all likelyhood, R80.10 will be supported on the 12x00 series appliances, they are bug and beefy enough. The 13x00 series is the brand-new hardware types, and will for sure support R80.10

Thanks for your prompt reply. Is there any release notes for R80.10 for gateways which mentions the list of appliances supported ?

    Regards

With the older UTM-1 Appliances going End of Life April 2017 then I would suggest that basically the 2012 range of Appliances should be good to go

Interestingly the 21600 shows End of Engineering Support in October 2017 so I wonder if they will not bother with R80.10 on that, however that is the only 2012 model that can see has a Successor Product and End of Engineering. Goes End of Life October 2019 and R77.30 does End of Life May 2019 so the dates aren't that far out.

R80.10 is in EA since about mid-late December, and the release notes are accessible if you register for that.

As far as I know, the 2012 Appliances and later will support R80.10.

Higher-end Power-1/UTM-1/IP Appliances *may* run R80.10 (with Gaia, of course), but as they are close to End of Life, I don't expect formal support on these appliances.

Don't know if you got this answered but yes as gateways. They will not support gateway + mgmt (but who does that anyway?) R80.10

The R80.10EA release notes clearly state, taht IP appliances are not supported.
