Threat database Update in VSX

Should VS0 connected to internet to update the URL,IPS,Application Control Databse and Anti-virus databse ? OR having a one of the VS internet should be OK.
Can someone shed some light how threat database update works in VS environment and whats the best practices ?

Updates are handled by VS0 and then passed through the VSX software to the Virtual Systems on the Hardware.

If VS0 only responsible for update then how we can configure DNS only for VS0

In fact, you cannot do it any other way. DNS is set on physical content, e.i. at VS0. There is no way to have different DNS settings for other virtual systems
