Default GAiA NGTP on Cisco UCS-E

    Hi all,
has anybody ever tried to install GAiA on Cisco UCS-E servers in the routers? Eventually I think it's all about the expected performances on E5-24x8L v1 and v2 CPUs, since there should be no issues with memory and disks. Which is the performance do you think I could expect?

Also would it be possible to go bare metal or it would be better to go over vmWare?

    Thanks a lot,
    Marco

P.S. this is the link to UCS-E hw config: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/product...omparison.html

Can't speak about 1st part but for bare metal vs Vmware it's up to you: how much performance you expect from that machine compared to server's capacity.

Is the Hardware Compatibility List and Cisco UCS isn't on there.

It doesn't mean that it won't work, simply that it is not recognised as having been tested by Check Point. As such if you do hit problems you will likely hit the line of "the hardware isn't on the HCL, try on hardware that is on the HCL and get back to us if problem persists.

There have been thread here before regarding Cisco UCS ( I can't find them at the moment ) so you aren't the first to ask ( and I dare say won't be the last ) as the Cisco UCS appears to be quite attractively priced.

Not sure if anyone has actually tried installing though.

Check Point can run in VMware on any hardware (including Cisco UCS), provided it's a supported version of VMware.
If you want to install Gaia on bare-metal Cisco UCS (without VMware), this is not supported.
