Default cp_merge, merging database contaning objects with equal names but different values

    Hello,

I found out a pretty dangerous way of operation of cp_merge.

I am merging the databases of two SmartCenter and 2 CMAs to one new CMA.

When merging databases the objects of source database with the names existing in the target database are not imported without any warning or error.
This could be pretty dangerous in case of objects with the same names but different values.

For example if the source database have a host object A with value 1.1.1.1
    and
the destination database have a host object A with value 2.2.2.2.
After database merge the object A in the target database will still have value 1.1.1.1. The policies imported from source database will reference to this object A with value 1.1.1.1, which has to be 2.2.2.2 for these policies.

Do you know if there is a way to get errors, warning for such cases when running cp_merge merge_object?

    If not,
    My idea is:
to export the objects from the databases (I have written a year ago a script to export the objects from the file objects_5_0.C into a csv file.
    ),
check for the objects with the duplicate names,
check the values of the objects with the duplicate names,
rename the objects with duplicate names in source database before merging the databases.

    Best regards,
    Yevgeniy

    Hello,

unfortunately I can't give you the script. It is not a standalone script, but a java modul integrated in framework which I developed some years ago.
But, you can get the same result with
    Ofiller and Odumper.
Actually I used them to solve the probem I explained in the previous post.

    Best regards
