Default Edge W 8.2.59 wifi speed degraded

    Guys,

I have problem. My Edge W 8.2.59 is directly connected via Edge WAN port into VDSL modem. Internet ISP line have speed 20 Mbps. But speed on end station connected via WiFi from Edge is only 10Mbps. When is end station connected directly via WiFi on VDSL modem, speed is 20Mbps. So bottleneck is on Edge. But where?
Edge have 25 simple security rules.
Used only hide NAT from internal network to internet.
    No antivirus, antispam, QoS, VPN.

SmartDefense is on minimal level, WAN port have set 100 Mbps/full duplex.

    Wifi setings on Edge:

    Operation Mode - 802.11g 54Mbps
    Channel - automatic
    Require WPA2 - enabled
    WPA encryption - AES

    Transmission rate - 54 Mbps
    Transmitter power - full
    Antena selection - automatic
    Fragmentation treshold - 1000
    RTS treshold - 400
    Extended range mode - disabled
    Multimedia QoS - Enabled

    Any idea?

    Thanks

    Hi

The first piece of advice I'd give you would be to take the firmware back to 8.2.55. We've had no end of problems with 8.2.59 which actually managed to kill seven of the boxes we manage. These issues are currently being investigated by CP.

Assuming the problem persists then I'd try a separate access point into a LAN port on the Edge to see how that performs.

Connect an end-station directly to the Edge using Ethernet, and see what sort of transfer rates you get. You need to take Wi-Fi out of the equation, as there's too many other variables going on there, particularly with an older wireless protocol using the congested 2.4GHz band.

    Thanks guys for advice,

firmware 8.2.55 restored - no change, speed is still 7-10Mbps
direct connection end station to Edge via Ethernet - same situation speed is still 7-10Mbps

Direct connect end station to VDSL modem - speed 20Mbps :). This is not problem on WiFi protocol etc. But problem is on the Edge. I will investigate.
    Thanks for tips.

Default Re: Edge W 8.2.59 wifi speed degraded - resolved

    Resolved :-).

    Status before:
    backup firmware - 7x.x.xxx
    Main firmware - 8.2.55x
    Speed only 10Mbps

    Status after:
    Backup firmware - 8.2.55x
    Main firmware - 8.2.55x
    Speed 19Mbps

    My steps:
Updated backup firmware to version 8.2.55 via tftp(old backup version was firmware - 7.x.xxx).
Hard reset to version 8.2.55x used from new uploaded backup firmware - 8.2.55x.

    And it works :-).
