    Default Upgrading R75.40 to R77

Sitting here with an 12600 appliance - and trying to upgrade it to R77.
Webupload wont work, so i am trying the clish way.

Apparently i cant seem to get i right.

    #exit expert mode
    #add upgrade R77 Check_Point_upg_WEBUI_and_SmartUpdate_R77.Gaia.gz

    And it still fails.
I noticed that the R76 package was "*.tgz" could that be the issue ???

This might be the upgrade issude - see SK62868.
    Dont use Chrome when downloading.

Have just been informed by checkpoint that this update, need to be installed (fresh install) from an external DVD drive.
Will test tomorrow, as i need to get one first.

(Assuming that they are talking about the 12600 appliance, and not in genera..)

For fresh installs, you can use an external DVD drive, however using a USB Device is much easier.

You can upgrade it from the CLI / WebUI. :)
    Its all in the documentation.

The Instructions on the download page are clear...

The package should be usable for both GAIA and SecurePlatform via WebUI. Maybe phoneboy can get some clarity on the problem.

I think there's some confusion as to whether or not he's upgrading vs doing a fresh install. His original post said upgrade then his second post was only talking about "update" via "fresh install" which you can't do from the CLI.
    Its all in the documentation.

Sorry about leaving this thread open...

The problem was apparently the usb-to-com converter, that messed the entire thing up.
After using a "fresh" converter, the install went on as it should.
So.... now i have an ekstra in my bag.

    Thanks for the feedback.
