Default SNMP monitoring of Edge boxes

    Hi all,

we have a whole bunch of Edge X units with built in ADSL modems connected to the main check point firewalls via VPN (they're also centrally managed)

the thing is we cannot seem to monitor them with SNMP.

I can see the traffic going out from the main firewall in tracker and its going encrypted, but we're not seeing the actual logs on the edge device. although we're seeing traffic to one of the other IP addresses which is sitting behind the firewall.

    ie

snmp server > firewall > vpn > edge > device

    snmp > device is fine
snmp > edge not seeing snmp traffic
snmp icmp > edge is working fine.

    any ideas?

We have almost 500 centrally managed Edge boxes all monitored via 24/7 SNMP using PRTG. The SNMP server is sat behind our main CP firewall and the monitoring takes place across the VPN. I saw your question but didn't respond as I'm afraid I couldn't understand what the problem you're having is!

What are you using for SNMP monitoring? I have a couple customers that also cannot monitor them via SNMP from Solarwinds Orion NMP. I can snmpwalk them without any issues however from the same network as their Orion server.

Has anyone got this working. What is the catch here? We also cannot connect to an Edge device over a VPN and get SNMP data.
    All help appreciated. thanks
