A lot of troubleshooting exercises go easier if you have the ability to install and test on different versions of Check Point software. This becomes even more useful if you're using VMware in your test lab.
It's best to create and maintain your own Check Point software repository. Recommendations include:
Sooner or later you're going to need one of these versions and it might be no longer available on Check Point's website or it might take a long time to download it when you need it. With your own Check Point Software Repository, you'll be ready.
- Get a copy of every release for your platforms from Check Point's website (if you have a valid support contract, you already have permission).
- Also get every HFA version in case you need to roll back for production or testing.
