I knew the general rules so the initial impression was - NO. But I got confused with the information here - i'm reading it like either CCSA R71 or CCSA R70 is the prerequisite for CCSE R71:
CCSE R70 Training & Certification | Check Point Software
Mandatory Prerequisites
* CCSA R70 or CCSA R70 Upgrade Certification; or CCSA R70/R71 or CCSA R70/71 Upgrade Certification
So, having passed 210-315.70 in July 2010, i now registered for 210.315-71 and PearsonVUE allowed me to book the exam.
But I wanted to make sure and asked Checkpoint. Yesterday the reponse was:
NO, the certification you took in July is not sufficeint to be able to take the CCSE for the next level. You would have to take the advanced upgrade CCSA R71 in order to take the CCSE R71 certification exam.
BTW Pearson VUE support were not sure and redirected me to checkpoint.
Shouldn't that be more clear and dissallow a user to register for the exam? PearsonVUE have had the record of my last exam as they are the only exam provider for CP.
I have one exam voucher. With the new 50% discount for R71 exams, it was better for me to take CCSER71 and re-take with the 50% discount in case i fail. But I have to cancel now and register for 210-315.70. And I wont upgrade to CCSE R71 - doesn't make sense to spend the money.
cheers,
