Silly question, but when using auto static NAT, can you define the object with its external (routable ) IP and then xlate to the internal (private) IP? I understand tht its supposed to be the other way around; but does it matter of the one object is serving both addresses?

Thanks.

You need to define the "object" with the IP address that the firewall gateway will "see" as the host (e.g. it's real IP address).

So if you want internal hosts to go to say 10.10.10.10 and have that translate to 4.10.10.10 you would build the object with the 4-dot address. If you have a host who's IP address is 10.10.10.10 but you want the outside to connect to 4.10.10.10 then you need to build it with the 10-dot address.
