View Full Version : USB Ethernet Device

Hi CPUG members,

Has anyone been able to successfully connect a USB ethernet device and have Gaia recognising it and bring up an interface?

I'm trying to connect an asix usb to ethernet dongle, but have no success.

I can see that Gaia does have drivers for asix and I can modprobe the driver however no actual new ethernet interface comes up.

[Expert@labfw1:0]# find / -name asix.ko

[Expert@labfw1:0]# modprobe asix

[Expert@labfw1:0]# modinfo asix

As far as I know, these sorts of Ethernet adapters are not on the HCL thus not supported, assuming you could get it to work.

Yeah they are definitely not in the HCL, I thought I'll throw it out there and see if someone got it working since Gaia has the drivers and modules for these devices.

I have a HP microserver for lab testing that has 7 usb port, I'd like to make use of these usb ports.

Even if you're able to make the adapters work, they won't exactly be high-throughput. USB 2.0 barely has enough headroom for a 100mb Ethernet Adapter.
