is it possible to run a separate management server with a trial license box of 2012 type?
the vendor gave us couple of appliances but it does not have a separate management device.

I don't want to use local management, just wanted to separate it out to a spare server.

would it require additional management license? A server with Windows 8 OS is available for test purpose at our dept.

You can install Check Point management software on your server (not sure about support of Windows 8 , we are using only SecPlat).

After installation you can use 15 days trial (build in) license or ask you vendor for trial management license (additional 30 days )

But you have to get software from you vendor to be able install it.
