I put together a one page diagram in hopes that it will make choosing an R7x version a little easier. This should save you the hassle of having to read through all the release notes of ten different versions, and trying to find those features you want. Want to know when Geo Protection was released? What is the minimum version that supports Rule Expiration? What Provider-1 enhancements were included in R71.30? Hope fully this diagram will help answer questions like these and streamline your research. Any feedback is welcome.

Hey, that's nice. Thanks for this.

Next to the asterisk for R75 you should also add *Does not work.

This looks very good. thank you.

But I have one question about R71.30

You write here, that there are Non-English SmartConsole tools

I cannot figure out, where you found this or what you mean with this. Japanese SmartDashboard seems to be there for longer and I could not find anything else.

Nice job! A couple things you might want to add is that NGX licenses are still supported under R70 and under R71 blade licenses are required.

R75 worked for me. I even demonstrated it in front of our SEs last week. :)

In our class next week, we will try again to use R75. I hope we have more success this time.

Nice road map. Funny that CP can't provide something like this. Hell, even a matrix of some kind would be nice.

Thanks for the quick feature overview.

Not an graphical overview of features but even really use full (licenses ...)

Hmmm, so Check Point takes my content and layout, flips it sideways, and now it's "official?" I know which version I'll be using with my customers ;)

Sheesh! Yeah CP, how about a royalty or acknowledgement! IP (the other kind!) is important too!

Wow! I liked yours better anyway. Since they took yours and subjugated it, maybe you should change yours up a little and add the upgrade path lines as well. You know, since the paths are actually complicated enough to NEED those lines. This particular product map is starting to look the way Cisco IOS does, with all the branching and whatnot...

Hey fireverse, do you have one that has the entire product timeline? I would be interested to see pre-R70 to compare the time between some of the older release dates visually.

Thanks for the notes of support. I am an SE at Check Point and was able to get in contact with the group that produced the "official" version. I can see why they would want their own version of the document moving forward (I could get hit by a bus, end up at Palo Alto, etc), just wish they went about it a little differently...but that's water under the bridge. It looks as though I will be helping them develop future versions of the document. In the meantime, I do intend to maintain my own version, as my customers have additional information (P1/MDM and VSX) that they want included and I am not sure Check Point will want to include the high-end products right now.

Interesting idea, but I just don't have the time to reach back to R65 and all of the HFAs. Besides we're all supposed to be on R7x in six weeks right..... :)

Be off R65 in 6 weeks? I think we can both name at least one or two customers that are still on R55 or earlier :)

Yeah... if my hotfixes for 70.30 get ported to 70.40 then I hope to have all my site upgrades from R65 completed. I wouldn't dare risk it without having those HF's before I begin though, especially since some of my sites will be upgraded via ILO.

I made some major additions to the document. I published it in .pdf format which allows for including links to the official Check Point documentation for things like "Known Limitations", "Resolved Issues", "Release Notes", and the document portal for specific releases. Any text that is underlined is a link to that release's specific documentation. As always, any feedback is welcome.

Hello,

according to these road maps (both the official one and fireverse's), it seems that HFAs are released upon three months cycle.

Is it reasonable to expect R75.10 in early April?

You should expect to see R75.10 become GA in April. There will be some pretty interesting enhancements...

Any word on GA release for R75.1?

I have just gone through the upgrade cycles from R65 to get to R71.1 over past few weeks, ready to make the last jump to R75.X and would like to do so while I have a window between projects, but don't want to wait if it is going to be late may or so.

R75.10 was release just a few hours ago. The following diagram has been updated for R75.10:

Thanks for this informative post. You have answered a question for me as I recently tried loading R75 onto my 1050 and got a starnge error which I had yet to broach with support. I am now screwed though, as we got a 1050 for our test lab and a 3070 for production and now I can't test upgrades past R71.30 in the lab. This thing is only 2 years old... Grrrrr.

Since R71.30 enhancement are not included in R75.10....

I will wait for the next release R75.20 or until they are ported over, before migrating to version R75.

Great work on that Visual road map....fireverse, it is perfect !!!

Here is updated map from Check Point: Check Point R70, R71 and R75 Release Map (http://downloads.checkpoint.com/dc/download.htm?ID=11948)
It mentions that R75.20 will support upgrades from R71.30 but not from R71.40.
