CP TAC suggestion to reinstall R65 .. (we have not physical access - just other country , but we have (only) out of band access)

Any suggestions? (SR has been already created)

Did you try a power cycle? I've seen this on a server where there was a short in the Cat 5 cable (mouse we think). Every time the it would short, the port would shut down and we would have to power the box off for a good 5 minutes before it would come back.

On some of the IBM's I've worked with, if you unplug power after powering down, then press and hold the power button for a few seconds, then plug in and power up, it will clear out the capacitors on the mainboard and seems to accelerate the 5 minute deal. I don't know if this is really what worked, but it was a tip handed down to me from a senior a long time ago and it does seem to work much faster than powering down for 5 - 10 minutes.

This was one of the symptoms we came across that the power trick worked for...

Power cycle does not help... / just the same situation..
Sysconfig > network> Configure --- External do not exist.. (all other Int. are still present)

Hoping this is an HA system. You can try to restore the factory default R65 image and see if the interface comes back, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for that with just one MIA port. I would suspect the port fried.

We have manage to reinstall R65 : Ext. Int is back...!!!

but after installing HFA Ext. Int can not be found..., as usual CP has already closed affected SR with following commends:

I will close this Service Request 11-XXXXXXXXX within 24 hours.

CP (now) will try to resolve this issue with replacement of UTM-1.
We will see..
