Hello,

Expert password for UTM-1 450 appliance had been missed.

How can I change/restore it?

Appliance is physicaly accessible.

As I can see from the similar thread - http://www.cpug.org/forums/check-point-utm-1-appliances/12578-lost-admin-password-utm-1050-w-splat.html
the only one solution is to reset hardware to the factory defaults?

I am in the same boat as you. Just got one of these on ebay and I can't access the FW because the generic password is not accepted.

I have tried password recovery using CentOS live CD and the CentOS installation CD 1 to no avail. I could not access Linux Rescue from the Live CD and via the installation CD I am getting stock.

Someone please assist.

Yes, if you lose the admin or expert passwords on a UTM-1 you'll have to restore it to a factory default image by interrupting the boot from the console port or display on the box itself. There is no other way.
