Default R61 DMZ Check button

Does anyone know what happens or changes if this button is checked?

My first thought was it was informational only.

IMHO, this option is used for setup Antivirus Scan By Direction. You can scanning files passing to or from the external, internal, DMZ networks (Content Inspection -> Antivirus -> VPN-1 Express).
