Fresh build of Sparc Solaris 9. (make sure you use 12/14/05 patch cluster!) Latest/greatest NGX R60 Express & SmartCenter products. Have been looking for program name of a policy editor GUI. Old Solaris FW-1 v4.1 was fwui. Seems like it should be obvious. But, I can't find any info anywhere on what progam to run to create new policy on the Sun box! Check Point NG book says run fwpolicy - but it doesn't exist for NGX product. Could somebody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I'm not sure what the name of the binary is in Solaris but if you have it installed, it should be in your program menu called SmartDashboard. If you don't have it installed, you should be able to install it from the CD or download it from CheckPoint. The full package of gui clients are called SmartConsole in NGX. Hope this helps.

There doesn't seem to be much info regarding the gui for Solaris. I'm almost not sure it really exists. I would gladly license Motif, if req'd to run, but I can't find any gui at all. I have Check Point install cd's and have examined everything on them, but can't find any policy editor. Don't find anything on software subscription site either. I found one note in a Check Point documentation .pdf that said: solaris copy SmartConsole_R60_<build_num>_Solaris.tgz from NGX R60 CP pkgadd -a CPclnt-R60/install/admin.asc -d . CPclnt-R60 But, I can't find anything 'smart' (no pun intended) in any of the installed directories or any directories on the installation disk. I have verified via Check Points site that the Express product does include SmartCenter management console. Anyones help regarding the 'misplaced' gui would be greatly appreciated! - Thx!

Haven't had to find it myself yet but this is what I've come up with from "secureknowledge" --- The SmartConsole contains the PolicyEditor/LogManager. Their names have been changed to SmartDashboard(PolicyEditor) and SmartView Tracker (LogManager). The GUI you need for Solaris is on the CD you used to install R60. --- In general these should be in either $CPDIR/bin or $FWDIR/bin
