Default Telnet to standby firewall

Hi,

We have a ClusterXL setup with 2 enforcement modules in an active - standby high availablility configuration .

When we try to telnet to the standby firewall , telnet takes a long time to return a the login prompt . The telnet access to the active firewall is fast .

We tried failing over the standby firewall to active , now access to the primary is fast ( original standby ) and access to the standby (original primary ) is very slow and even times out if done from a different subnet .

The issue is that telnet access to the standby firewall is very slow.

Note1: Am aware that Telnet is vulnerable to sniffing .
Note2: Am note sure on the reverse DNS resolution is causing our issue as we have defined an entry in the hosts file and also we tries using IP addresses

Thanks and Regards
PK
