Default Max 4096 MB Memory

Anyone ever seen this? Installed e.g. 16 gb memory, SMonitor shows only 4 gb installed, also if more than 4 gb in use, SMonitor shows that exactly 4 gb are in use....SCenter runs on splat, command "free" shows correct values

I believe that there is a memory limit as too how much SPLAT can address, not 100% certain though as last time looked at it was R54/R55 version do may have been addressed.

hmm... lmao... why would you whack soo much ram into a firewall/mgmt? lmao

My firewall blades are 4g b ram and so it my scs server... can still see it fine though...

i find it overkill still.. lol

I remember seeing something about having to install with no more than 4 GB on some systems and than adding in the extra RAM.

Though why you need more than 4 GB of RAM I would have to question.

thanks for reply guys but the question ist not why I have more than 4 gb, the question is why is the information about the system not correctly displayed.
I already talked to some guys which are "near" to cp, looks like a issue while programming 32 bit applications

Ran into some fun stuff while looking into your memory issue:

Quote:
Snippet from Solution ID: #sk22343:

As of SecurePlatform NGX R62:

* On AMD, SecurePlatform supports up to 4 GB RAM.

* On Intel, SecurePlatform supports up to 64 GB RAM.
As to why you'd want 64GB of RAM I can think of a few. Ram usage tied to queued messages [which I've seen in R65]:

Quote:
Snippet from Solution ID: #sk30794
Error:
Console or /var/messages displays VPN-1/FireWall-1 kernel error message, "FW-1: log message queue is full".

Question 1:
What are the upper bounds of these VPN-1/FireWall-1 kernel log parameters?

Answer 1:
In general, there is no upper bound to these parameters. The upper limit is the device's memory. Choose the bound carefully.
However, my favorite reason would be to use ramdisks to speed policy pushes!
