hi, we run our management server NGX HFA3 on Solaris. We did not install Smartportal when we installed the management server. Now we like to add Smartportal on the Mgmt Server, but we only have cd media without any HFA. Is it possible/a good idea to install smartportal from the no hfa media ? If so, how can I apply HFA changes to smartportal ? Or should I better get a new media pack with integrated hfa ? tia alex

asieber, download the comprehensive NGX HFA03 package for Solaris from Checkpoint and use this:- https://downloads.checkpoint.com/dc/...1042&x=10&y=11 You will need valid sw subs to do this.

thanks for reply, but the link you provided does not lead me to a comprehensive NGX HFA03 package for solaris. There´s a link to order the media kit and i can dowload the vpn1 pro/express package and some other packages. But the vpn1 package ist dated oct 2005 - no HFA3 released at that time regards, Alex

You can apply Smartportal to your Smartcenter without the use of HFA03. Smartportal is a separate package and is not influenced by a HFA.Only firewall-1 and kernel are applied with HFA. Cheerz

What's involved with adding SmartPortal to an existing production SPLAT Smart Center instance? Do you need to reboot the box? I have not been able to find any KB articles on Checkpoint's site about this yet.

You can try adding on lab. About SmartPortal, I try and get message "Don't forget to log out and log in again to complete the installation", so in theory you don't need to reboot server.
