Default if i disable smartdefence
If i disable smartdefence, is that means the FW is only doing L3 filtering? am i right ?

No you are not correct.

Several protocol (HTTP, SSH for example) have application specific handlers and Check Point can tell it what is running over TCP/80 is really HTTP or not.
