Default Windows Live Messenger, unable to log in.

Hello,

Having a problem with Smartefense and R62 regarding Messenger Live 8 (8.1). We are unable to log on to MSN. Earlier verisons of MSN works without problems.

In SmartView i get this:

Attack Name: Malformed MSNMS Packet
Attack Information: Illegal command length
Service: MSNP (1863)

The destination addresses is the different MSN servers...

First started experiencing this problem after upgraing to R62. "Everything" is turned off in SmarDefense... But the drop's keep comming.. :)

Anyone got any tips or experience with this ?

Try to turn on "ip tcp adjust-mss" at your router, it seems network problem and not Check-Point inspect.

If it doesn't work you can always change protocol type to "none" at MSMSN service object.

Good luck

hello,

thanks for the reply :)

I am unable to see why the tcp adjust command would help me out here ? Could you maybe spell it out for me :D

Note that clients running msn outside the firewall works fine. (They use the same routers.)

In your scenario were there client with sane router that can login.
I suggest the second option change protocol type to "none" at MSMSN service object.
This will disable SD inspect for this protocol.
