Default No Smart Map

Hi

We recently installed R62 on a new nokia box and
have only just spotted that all our smartmap options
have been greyed out.
As far as I am aware we have not pressed any options
during install to make this not work and one of the guys
has suggested a complete reload but short term this is
not an option.
When i say greyed out I mean the View/Topology vpn view
which should i Think show us the smartmap.
Any idea of how i can get to see smart map short of a
complete reload/rebuild.
I am running R62 on 2 Nokia 390s
And R60 on one nokia 390.

View/Topology VPN View is NOT smartmap.

Sounds more to me that what you are talking about is the VPN Manager in the tabs alongside the Security Address Translation etc.

smartmap is based upon the Topology information defined on your gateways, not VPN's.

smartmap is also a licenseable feature, so unless you have a VPN-1 Power system, or a SMARTCenter Pro / smartmap addon then you won't have access to it anyway.

However if you are talking about smartmap is there a menu called smartmap between the policy and search menus.

Also is there an option for smartmap on the view menu and is there a tick alongside it.

Hi

Nope nothing between the Policy and Search menus
on the dash.
Also nothing called smartmap in the views tab.
Sadly we have just been handed this and are trying
to work out whats been done.
Where can I quickly tell if I have -
VPN-1 Power system, or a SMARTCenter Pro / smartmap addon

I have had a look at the licences and they seem to be for
VPN1/POWER UTM - shouldnt that have smartmap then

OK goto Policy Global Properties, and there is a section called SMARTMAP.

Go into there and you will see that no tick enabled in there.

Tick and save the policy.

Logout and login to the Dashboard again.

The menu option for SMARTMap should have now appeared between Policy and Search menus.

I have a 1050ts and I am not seeing this tick. the only smartmap that I can find is under smartcenter at the bottom of global properties. Nothing to tick that I can see. Running NGX (R65) HFA_25, Hotfix 603 with messaging security. Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe it has been disabled globally.

To verify, find objects_5_0.C (located in the conf directory)

open the file and search for this string:
:totally_disable_VPE

If set to true, you can click SmartMap boxes all day and nothing will change.

If you need to enable it, I highly recommend this procedure:
cpstop
copy file before editing
edit file and change true/false
save and close file
cpstart

Sorry, I don't know that answer. Speak with your rep about it and get a demo license to try it out if you don't have it.

IMHO, it's not all that great so I disabled it completely. I found that all it was really doing for me for was making my SCS much slower.
