Default Rename Gateway object in Dashboard

Hi Guys

I was wondering if i can get some help please?

I have taken over the implementation of a new R62 firewall to replace our current R54. The new R62 SPLAT is built from scratch with SmartCentre installed on the same server with all rules and objects created manually, so in essence nothing brought over from R54. Now the guy that set it all up created the Primary Gateway object with a name of test in the Dashboard. Obviously this doesnt affect the operation of the server but having it named the proper name is better asthetically.

I have gone through a few guides that people have posted here but still hit the problem of trying to rename the object from test to "SERVERNAME" with the error message of logging out of the dashboard and detaching the license.

Is there any way to actually get this rename to occur without starting again?

Much Appreciated.

Regards

logon to smartupdate, deattach license from the gateway, go back into smartdashboard and rename it. Remove it from vpn comminutiys and such if you have those. Also if u use this object in install_on column you will most likely have to remove that first from the rules.

also your vpn certificate for the node will be change and affect operations depending on it

Thanks for the reply,

However i have tried this. Once i detach the license i am unable to log into the dashboard as it says there are no valid licenses found.

Any ideas?

Cheers

You can log into SmartUpdate to reattach the license.

I *thought* you could rename a gateway object once you removed it from all VPN communities that it participates in.

BTW, this is another reason why one should never run the SmartCenter on the enforcement module.

Thanks Ray & Abusharif,

I have tried exactly what you have said a number of times but this time it worked..... I decided to also remove the current VPN certificate that was still installed even though the object was removed from the VPN communities and wham, it allowed the rename.

Thanks for your help.

Regards
