Default what is RuleBase Verification.

Hi can somebody explain what this verifies ? The only thing i noticed so far , is that verifies you dont have contradicting rules.

That is more or less it. It will also check some other things in your NAT rules - e.g. that you're not trying to do a hide NAT with a source of ANY.

Some other stuff around user auth rules, making sure they are syntactically (sp?) OK.

The main thing though is checking that you don't have rules that overlap or conflict though.

Note that there is a lot of stuff it will not pick up. I would quite like it to be able to suggest consolidations, but that is perhaps something best done by a dedicated program.

If you have ever used a firewall that does not tell you about one rule hiding another, you don't know what a nice feature that is. It's one of the major lacks of Microsoft's ISA server.
