| SmartMap (or VPE) crashes when logging into Smart Dashboard/Policy Editor After upgrading a FW-1 4.1 to FW-1 NG FP3 (management server), sometimes the smartdashboard crashes after logging in to it. This seems to be the smartmap that generates this problem. When trying this from a remote gui, fwpolicy.exe (on windows) creates an error and exits. First, try removing all the files in $FWDIR/conf/vpe on the management station. If that does not work, the solution for this is to edit the objects file (don't do this manually!) by entering the following commands into dbedit: dbedit> modify properties firewall_properties totally_disable_VPE true dbedit> update properties firewall_properties When you now will try to login to Smart Dashboard, you'll be able to manage your firewall & policy but without smartmap. If this happens to you when loading a policy through InfoView, you can edit the temporary objects_5_0.C file that InfoView creates to keep SmartMap from loading. Find the objects_5_0.C file inside the InfoView_x folder in your temp folder. Example path: d:/temp/InfoView_3/opt/CPmds-53/customers/CorpPro1-Corp/CPfw1-53/conf Edit objects_5_0.C and change :totally_disable_VPE (false) to :totally_disable_VPE (true) Save, and run Smart Dashboard from InfoView. It will now load without SmartMap/VPE. -- PhoneBoy - 16 Jan 2004 FAQForm FAQs.Class: SmartClientsFAQs, TroubleshootingFAQs FAQs.OS: FAQs.Version: |
