Go with the one you're most comfortable with. Which one can you recover the quickest? How much experience do your people have with Windows or Linux? (rhetorical questions)

There are no feature or performance differences. SPLAT will be a little cheaper because you won't have to pay for a Windows server license.

SPLAT also has useful integrated backup processes built in. For me, as long as you have basic knowledge of Unix/Linux, this is a no-brainer to go for SPLAT.

Windows or Splat will be ok for Mgmt. Just make sure you do a upgrade export every week.

The only reason to use windows is if you need it for SAN drivers to store logs on a SAN.

You must remember that if your SmartCenter gets compromised, its all over. So unless you REALLY know windows inside and out, and can really lock it down, you shouldn't use it.
