Cannot connect to smartcenter ngx

Hi,
newby to ngx...
I've just loaded Ipso 4.0 and NGX R61 on a nokia platform.
(installed enterprise smartcenter and vpn-1pro gateway)

from a windows xp box I installed SmartConsole_R61_HFA_01

however when i try and connect to my firewall from smartdashboard i get the following error...

'connection cannot be initiated'
'please make sure that the server (ip of smarcenter) is up and running and that you are defined as a GUI client.'


cannot ping firewall unless i do fw unloadlocal.. but cannot get into the rulebase to add rules.

in CPconfig i've added 'any' as GUI access client.

not sure if i need to create an ICA... if so how would i go about?

any ideas?

If it's a newly installed firewall, you have to unload the local policy first. Then, you can access by the GUI. And you define the firewall object with a any-any-accept rule on it. Try to install the policy whether success or not. It it's successful, it means you can manage your firewall gateway.
