Hi, If I just put icmp-proto in service instead of icmp-requests and echo-reply, what difference does it make? does it also pass icmp echo reply and requests and other icmp messages? thanks in advance

Hi, icmp-protoc is the protocol itself rather than specific services within the protocol so it allows many more icmp messages through than just your request and reply. If you only need request and reply I would suggest to use those specifically. If you look on services in dashboard and click on the icmp section you will see all the icmp messages that icmp-protocol uses. HH __________________ Fishing for a clue on exactly what to do....

I knew this is a lame question, but anyway I still wants to know: I had one specific rule which allows any to any with service echo-request. Is there any differences between echo-request and echo-reply? Which one is better to use? Regards, Al
