Default Automatic Configuration Script value populated when logging into SecureClient

Some of our users must use a profile that utilizes "Visitor Mode" in order to connect to VPN at certain hotels and hotspots.

We use VPN-1 SecureClient NG R56 Build 615

Under the Advanced tab of the Profile Properties the Office Mode checkbox is checked, the Connectivity Enhancements checkbox is checked and the Visitor Mode radio button is selected.

The symptom is that they cannot connect to the Internet. Further investigation reveals that under Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, the Use Automatic Configuration Script checkbox is checked and is populated with a value similar to the following:

file://%Userprofile%/Local Settings/Application Data/CheckPoint/vpn1F.tmp

where %Userprofile% is a Windows variable (usually C:\Documents and Settings\<login name>). The filename varies each time. Unchecking this box allows Internet access. Connecting through other profiles that use Office Mode only do not seem to cause the problem.

Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Have never seen this, but try and upgrade the clients to R60 (It will work with R54-60 gateways).

Jim,

Thanks for the tip. I can try that in testing but the strange thing is, if I open the .tmp file it has information specific to our network but our network admin cannot explain where this is coming from.....

Found the problem.

In the USERC.C, the ie_proxy_replacement parameter was set to true. Setting it to false fixed the problem.
