VPN Logon using windows UPN

I have CP SC using Windows AD to authenticate SC clients.
Users login to windows domain as username@domain.com
Currently vpn clients login as domain\user using SC
Is it possible for SC vpn users to authenticate using username@domain.com? When I try that I get a SC authentication error
Encryption Scheme: IKE
Information: reason: Client Encryption: MS ERROR_AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE.
Reject Reason: SecureClient authentication failure

If possible - how?
