Default Can't view HTTPS web pages

I have installed Securemote on a XP (Pro) PC so that it can access a remotely hosted server/application which works OK. However, since the Securemote software has been loaded, the user is not able to view HTTPS web pages, he can view HTTP pages OK.

If I uncheck the Securemote client in the network options in XP, the HTTPS pages are able to be viewed, but then the Securemote can not be used.

Is there any configuration change that can be made to Securemote to stop it interfering with the HTTPS traffic?

Thanks for your help.
Simon.

Do you have something in your desktop policy blocking it?

No, there are no policies blocking it. It would appear that when the securemote client is enabled, all HTTPS traffic is redirected, and when I disable the client, the traffic goes via the proxy server and works OK.

I had exactly the same problem. Are you using a NGX R60 SR Client or a NG R56 ? I suppose it's the R60 one.

There are three ways to solve this I guess :

1 : read KB article #sk31486

--> forget, that the article does not sound like your problem. The registry entry will solve it for sure

2 : Try to use a R56 client

3: do not use Port 80 or 8080 on your proxy. 3128 works in my environment

I hope this helps

@northlandboy: This behaviour has nothing to do with a policy. I was'nt using Secureclient. The problem seems to be, as described in the article, if you're using port 80 for your proxy communication. Additionally they should say that it also belongs to port 8080. In my net I had a second proxy on 3128 which worked fine for my client

Thanks for your reply. I have tried to find the article you refer to on the CheckPoint Knowledge base, but am not able to find it, or am not authorised?.

Could you post the content of the article?

Thanks.

That's the correct solution right from the article. Furthermore I have to update my conclusion. It seems to be not depending on the port of the proxy server, it depends on the protocol used. When talking http to the proxy to open a https site then the problem occurs. CP talks about a drop on the client and for that reason the client tries to reach the https site directly.

Hope this all helps you !

URL mentioned previously no longer works, try this one:
