Default SecuRemote with other VPN clients installed on the same platform?

SecuRemote with other VPN clients installed on the same platform?
I'm quite certain this will cause some problems, at least accidently installing Secure Client and Nokia VPN Client on the same laptop did. Neither client worked correctly and it totally hosed the Nokia client to the point of having to perform surgery on the registry to remove it. All in all, something I wouldn't recommend trying on a system you actually want to use.

That being said, someone managed to get the Cisco VPN client to work with Secure Client on Windows 2000:

After having Check Point's SecuRemote/Secure Client running successfully on my system for years, I was required to install Cisco VPN software as well. I installed Cisco VPN, and it worked, but it prevented the SecuRemote client from working.

I found that the real conflict lies in the components that are installed. You can see the components by going to the Start Menu, choose Settings, choose Network and Dialup Connections and choosing your LAN connection (this connection depends upon what connection you use to access these VPNs). Then choose Properties. (Note, this is on a W2K machine - other Windows OS may be different).

For the SecuRemote, there is a component called "Check Point SecuRemote", and for the Cisco VPN there is a component called "Deterministic Network Enhancer".

What I found is that if I am going to use the SecuRemote client, I simply uncheck the Deterministic Network Enhancer component, and make sure that the Check Point SecuRemote component is checked. If I am going to use the Cisco VPN client, I uncheck the Check Point SecuRemote component and I make sure that the Deterministic Network Enhancer component is checked. If I do this prior to making my connection, I have absolutely no problems with either of these clients.

Default Re: SecuRemote with other VPN clients installed on the same platform?

On Windows XP Sp2 I got SecuRemote NG R55 HFA3 and Cisco VPN Client version 4.6 working fine together.

My trick was this:
- Set the Cisco VPN Service to Manual start
- Create a simple batch like this:

------8<--[Cisco_VPN_start.bat]----8<-----------------
net start "Cisco Systems, Inc. VPN Service"
@echo Quitting this windows in 5 seconds...
@c:\cygwin\bin\sleep.exe 5
------8<---------------------------8<-----------------

and the corresponding "stop" script.

- When you need the Cisco VPN, click on the CheckPoint SecuRemote icon in the tray and stop it. Then click the above batch and start the Cisco VPN Client.

It works fine :-)

Hope this helps.
