I have been testing the R56 and the R60 Secure Client and Windows XP SP2, the error tht seems consistant with these two combinations are that once connected and authenticated throught the gateway and policy server is that the client reports that I have IP Forwarding enabled and ithe VPN connection fails. Does anyone have a clue of how this was enabled and how to disable? I do not know if SP2 caused this but I do not get this error on my SP1 windows clients. Thanks in advance. Jim

It's not IP Forwarding as you're probably thinking of it. It's that stupid Internet Connection Sharing service. Just disable that service. But if you're using a ThinkPad and have IBM Access Connections installed, good luck. That stupid program will re-enable the disabled service ad you'll have the same problem. It gave us so much trouble at work that we uninstalled it. Ray

Thank you for the reply, indeed, I do have this problem only on the new Thinkpad that I am testing for possible deployment. I also did not want to install the access connections software but ound no other solutiocreating and managing multiple profiles that I amke availabel for our laptop users. What did you choose to use in lieu of access connections? I am using SC on an X60 model. I will experiment with the service that you mentioned as well. Thanks for the info again! Jim

Whatis the name of the service that you found to be the problem? I did not see any thing caled "Internet Connection Service". Also, after I disabled the 2 services I found that are assoiaed with Acess Connections, the error about IP Forwarding enabld did not go away. Jim

| In XP SP1, it's the Internet Connection Sharing service. In SP2, it's the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing service. Sometimes having the Routing and Remote Access service running will also trip that error. We use iPass for our remote connectivity control, so all of the configuration is done through its software. | hi we got a similar issue We are having problems with our Checkpoint SecureClient R56 and access Wireless hotspots through iPass. The iPass client works fine because we are able to connect to the hotspot without any problems when the VPN client isn't running, but when the VPN client is running iPass won't connect at all. MAybe it is something to do with the way our client is behaving and not allowing the data through or it is a problem with the local policy? |
