Default Unable to login to Nokia because log file is full

The Firewall-1 v4.1 log file in my Nokia IP440 has filled up the hard drive and will not allow me to login. Each time I try to login, error messages scroll down informing me that the log file is full and the login is inappropriate ("uid 0 on /var: File system full") ("login: /etc/spwd.db: Inappropriate file type or format"). I believe the scrolling error data is added to the password. If I try to login directly on the IP440, I get an invalid password.

Can anyone tell me how to correct this problem?

Thanks

Chris,

Did you try to found the solution on the Nokia site ?
Maybe you don't have access to that site...so ...this is:

To resolve this issue, the administrator will need to boot into single user mode and then delete the files in the filled partition. Log files, especially for Check Point FireWall-1 or similar application, are a good bet to remove to clear up large ammounts of space.

# Run # fsck

Once in single user mode, the administrator will need to run fsck in order to check the filesystem before mounting a directory. Answer y for yes to the FIX? [yn] prompt.

# Run # mount -aw

Mount all file partions in write mode.

# Run # df

Check which partitions are full.

# Delete files

The /var/fw/log/ directory houses the Check Point FireWall-1 log files. These files can grow very large if not properly managed and rotated. Deleting the contents of this entire directory will usually result is an operational system, but all FireWall-1 logged information will be lost

Regards,
Maurox

Chris,
On an IP440, during boot, type:

boot: -s

You have approximately 10 seconds to type this before the system boots.

On other platforms, assuming you boot into the boot manager, you will be told to 'press any key to enter boot manager.' Press any key. At the bootmanager prompt:

bootmgr> boot -s

regards,
Maurox

Maurox,

I tried the boot: -s in the ten second window, but the system boots up normally.
