Default IP330's fail to boot

The only command we see when these boot up is " AT ". We have the correct console cable, swopped the memory out, swopped the battery out and tried numerous other work arounds. Does anyone know how we can get the boot loader working again? Thanks

Hi,

First let me just say that I am new to IPSOs. But in the interest of keeping the ball rolling I'll have a crack at this.

According to the trouble shooting section in the user guide that came with our IP380 IPSOs:

No prompt or console port connection

Problem: The IP350 and IP380 appliance is deffective, or the file system on the IP350 and IP380 appliance is defective.

Solution: Contact the Nokia customer support site listed on page 3.

Which in this case is https://support.nokia.com

That is not what you wanted to hear though! I'll try and find something of more substance

Sounds like it's having a problem accessing the boot manager. On the IP330's the boot manager is on the hard drive. If you tried replacing the HDD it won't work properly because the new HDD doesn't have the boot manager installed on it. At this point the only way to get it working would be to get it replaced by Nokia. I'm guessing (but I could be wrong) that you don't have a valid support contract or you would have contacted them first/already. Unfortunately... the bad news is to get a replacement from Nokia, you have to have a support contract on the appliance(s) or we can give you a Return and Repair RMA in which you will pay 60% of the replacement cost of the appliance.

Otherwise it sounds like you have a loud doorstop.

Hi,

Yeah I found a section from Nokia on replacing the HD - which is a laptop HD basically.

It gives you all the physical steps and so on and in one big note section it states -

The disk drive must contain the IPSO partitions and boot loader before installation. For further information, contact the appropriate Nokia customer support site.......

Have you tried to get the HD replaced under warranty?
