My checkpoint Firewall on Nokia IP330 died, so i opened the box and installed a new 10GIG IDE hard drive in it. The problem is that IP330 doesn't have a CD ROM, so i am wondering how i will load IPSO on this box. This box came preloaded with IPSO so we didn't have to worry about the OS, but now when i have replaced the Hard drive, i am wondering how I can possibly load an OS on this Nokia box and get this back running. Please advise.

Hello, The installation of IPSO on IP330 can be done via the network. In summary tasks to follow to do it are: 1- Get the ipso.tgz file corresponding to you IPSO version. If you don't have it, you can get it on Nokia support web site 2- Put this ipso.tgz file on a ftp server in your LAN 3- Start a connection on the serial console port of your IP330 4- Switch on you IP330 firewall 5- During the boot phase, you will get a message "press a key to access bootmanager", so press a key and then use install command to start installation process. After giving answer to each request, the IPSO installation will start I hope this can help .... Good luck

You will have a problem booting the appliance if the HDD was not supplied by Nokia as the boot manager is found on the HDD. If you had support through Nokia, you have just trashed that by opening the IP330. To get the boot manager onto the HDD you may have to put the HDD into a PC and boot it up with an IPSO boot disk. I have never tried this so I don't know how reliable it works.

If you have another HD with ipso installed you can place this and a new disk into a PC and download HD Clone. Clone the Nokia disk to the new disk and 9 times out of ten the Nokia will run from the clone. Not always effective but generally works well.

There's absolutely no need to purchase disks from Nokia. This topic has already been discussed though, please click the following link: ip350 -Backing up the whole disk (image) 10 GB drive is not going to work. Please read the thread above to find the solution.
