Default Backup and Updating

A little background - we have a SmartCenter server running on a Compaq DL380 using Secure Platform and a CheckPoint VPN-1 NGX R60 on a Nokia IP530 running IPSO 4.0.

This is a two fold question:

- What is necessary to be backed up and is there a way to have this automated?

- We also have a Nokia IP330 that I would like to keep updated with the current rule base. Does anyone know how to do that without purchasing HA?

Thanks in advance

In Voyager there is a section called Backup and Restore. As this is only a firewall, you only need to bakup the default selections. You can set this to automate from this screen as well. This will back up the settings on the Nokia.

As for the SPLAT management station, I'm not very familiar with SPLAT so I don't know if there is an automatic backup.

OK - thanks. I already have the firewall side automatically backing up throught the IPSO option, but that appears to be the IPSO side only. I restored that to the IP330 and it did not include any of the CheckPoint data.

Thanks again.

You can use backup command with option --sched for auto backup SPLAT.

Thank you for the answers on the backup portion - I have everything backing up.

To my other question. I have not purchased the CP HA option. Is it possible for me to keep an IP330 updated with all the same information as our production IP530 without purchasing the CP HA option? Is it possible to use VRRP w/o HA?

Thanks in advance

You don't think you need an HA license to use VRRP. Just need FW/VPN licenses on both appliances.
