All, I don't normally use Windows so bare with me here.. :) Spun up a fresh install of NG X in the lab; SmartCenter with Eventia Reporter add on.. I try to add an administrator via the Checkpoint Configuration tool (cpconfig) and it says "Failed to save the administrator's password!" no matter what username/password i try. The box used to have R55 installed before, but it was uninstalled.. Are there files remaining?? Where is the password file in windows? cheers __________________ ///M

You can add only one global administrator from cpconfig (NGX and above). You can add as much CheckPoint admins as you like from SmartDashbord. This is mettioned in documentation.

there was no admin, it was after a fresh install.. I reinstalled the entire checkpoint suite, and now i can add admins, but i can't log in! I think there is something wrong with the box.. it is windows 2003 running in vmware.. might be an issue with running smartcenter up in a VMware session... __________________ ///M

Hello, I had a similar problem: it was a PATH problem, there was another verify.dll library in other directory. Copying it (from the checkpoint directory) to c:\windows\system32 was the solution, now, I can add new users but it didn't solve all the problem: still I can't log on in Dashboard. If I make a cpstart I found the message "VPN-1 not configured, use cpconfig..." etc, I have configured cpconfig without problems, but it still doesn't work...

I can say with some certainty that ngx runs fine in a vm. My management server is a windows server 2003 sp1 vm running in vmware server. I had trouble with initial installation of it prior to HFA_01 due to no support for SP1. Since HFA_01 I have had no trouble with my management server.
