Default Slow internet speed through Firewall-1 NG

Hey all..

strange one.. i have a Nokia Firewall-1 NG box that has been working fine on a 1.5Mb ADSL internet connection for the last 4 years..
speed throughput tests run on a workstation with no proxy showed 1.2Mb speeds..

This week though we upgraded our link to a 4mb/4mb link and with a PC direct connected to the router we get 3.5mb/3.5mb but when run through the firewall-1 box we only get 1mb/210k...

what could be causing this ?

Steve

I have seen it recently that when the ISP changes the bandwidth, something happes to change the MTU that is allowed as well, specificly with DSL. This causes the packets to be fragmented and causes latency because the firewall is doing double the work. You can try and change the MTU size of your PC to a lower number and test.
