I'm getting some new hardware here at the office and I'm just looking for some input to all of you who manage/work with Checkpoint Firewalls on a daily basis and are using VISTA... Generally speaking, what's your take? How robust are the various Dashboard/tools that a normal Security Engineer/analyst uses... Any input would be greatly appreciated

dont use vista ... i have vista and i suffer !! the smart dashboard crash all the time .. if you open a group and dont press ok after 30 min the consol will crash .... R55....

In addition to this - I've found that the R55 and R60 GUIs will not work in Vista. I strongly doubt that CP is going to patch them for Vista compatibility. Stick with XP.

i am working with both R61 and R55 on vista . So it is working ... but it is crashing for me at least a dozen times a day ... so i just installed it on one of my servers and im using the managment from there .

I found that the regular Dashboard clients for R61 worked fine under Vista, however I found it impossible to login to the MultiDomain Gui for the Provider-1. At the moment I would strongly suggest to stick with XP for working with Check Point.

well I took the plunge and am dual-booting right now So far, every single version of SmartDashboard (55/60/61/62/65) and all of my tools are working 100% on my Vista Business installation I'll see if I get any trouble in the upcoming weeks
