| They see how much of a good thing we have here and they're jealous! :) Unfortunately it was down when I initially attempted to access the forums, ten minutes later it was up and is open to the public: http://forums.checkpoint.com/ As you can see, CPUG's forums are much nicer. Quote:

Their public site went through a redesign as well. I do like the soft blue colors better. I haven't found the "Create a new account" link mentioned in the forum Help yet, though. On a similar line, R65 was announced today and you can order an Upgrade Kit from the User Center for no charge shipping via postal mail. Shipping is supposed to start on March 15, 2007. Ray

So it turns out you have to login with your User Center credentials. I'm not sure I like that, although do have a personal one and a company one. I made sure the Control Panel said my email address would be hidden and then posted a test message. Sure enough, it's displaying my email address. And there's no Delete function. So I went in and editted the message by deletingthe subject and all text and saved it and it blew up with a Java null pointer exception. Ray

Yeah, somebody didn't say "Hey, if we show their User Center account name as the forum poster, won't that let people know people's User Center account name?" thereby eliminating half of the work of guessing credentials. If they would change it to let you pick your display name, I would be OK with that. Ray

They changed something because my poster name is not my email address any more, but I have my email address set as "hidden" but when I click on my name, it displays my email address (or maybe my user center ID)? The feedback on their mailing list has been decidedly negative about this move. One suggestion to improve it was to implement an RSS feed because people do not want to waste their time searching web forums for new posts. Another was to keep the mailing list alive and let it do a one-way feed to the Misc. section like it's doing right now. Ray
