| Remote Site Can't Resolve Domain Name DNS names are never part of the TCP headers of any packet. Many sites do a reverse lookup of your translated IP address to determine your host's fully qualified domain name (note: the remote site is unaware you are using a "translated" IP address). If your translated IP address does not have a valid PTR record in your external DNS, it will not work. Answer -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This isn't a firewall issue, but rather an issue with your external DNS. You will need to contact whomever is in charge of your reverse DNS to resolve this issue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- RobertGraham - 13 Feb 2004 FAQForm FAQs.Class: TroubleshootingFAQs FAQs.OS: FAQs.Version: |
