Cannot delete files with strange characters

Guys,

I have accidently unpacked a R55_wrapper tgz package into my /var/admin folder. This folder is now full of strange files and folders which I cannot either move or delete.

Does anyone know how to get rid of these files or is going to require a fresh install on the Nokia box.

Then you should have a /var/admin/IPSO_wrapper_R55 (name may be different) folder.
rm -r /var/admin/IPSO_wrapper_R55 should delete this folder.

And could you give an example of a "strange" file name?

This is what I am seeing in the /var/admin folder. I have already removed the R55 wrapper file but the others will not move or be deleted. I am not sure if they will cause a problem if I continue with the installation of this firewall.

can you post the output of "ls -ail /var/admin" ?

This will also print the inode number.
To delete a file based on its inode nr:
cd /var/admin
find . -inum the_inode_number -exec rm -i {} \;

What command did you use to extract the wrapper?

To delete the first file:

Cheers that has worked a treat. But I do have one more question what command can I use to delete directories? I have several directories that I managed to hide away in the folder 'oldfiles'

Once I can get rid of these folders and I finish off the build of this gateway
