Guys, Can you please tell me the difference between running cpconfig and sysconfig? I know that cpconfig would be for installing CP after activating packages via Voyager. I hope I am correct. For sysconfig, when is it used? Thanks. - Humayun __________________ Systems Engineer

sysconfig is used for set system settings (time, date, network, routes, etc). cpconfig is used for set CP parameters. After installation SPLAT and activating CP products cpconfig become a section in sysconfig (menu Products Configuration).

So I have a new firewall, which I configured (assigned IP, hostname, etc) and turned on the packages in Voyager IPSO 3.9. Now my next step is to run the "cpconfig" command, correct? After that, what do I need to do? Aprt from establishing the SIC? Do I need to run the "sysconfig" command as well? Many Thanks for a prompt reply as I am pressed for time. __________________ Systems Engineer

humayun, if you have already defined all the system settings (date / time / inetrfaces) all you need to do is run cpconfig on the box to configure the checkpoint software. You use sysconfig with secureplatform. You are running IPSO so you have used Voyager instead. It's a few years since I worked on the IPSO but I'm 99.9% sure you don't need to run sysconfig. You just need to run cpconfig.
